welcome to the workshop of I Couldn't Tell You Why

Thank you for joining us for an outdoor audio immersive theatrical experience! We hope you enjoy the show. Please stick around after the show to hear how you can take direct action to positively impact those in our community who suffer the very real effects of what you're about to see.

If you need help during the show

(Headphones stop working, etc.) Please raise your hand and someone from the Refracted Team will come over to assist you.

Bathroom Directions

The show runs about 30 minutes, so in a perfect world, you hold it! But, in case of emergency, just ask one of the Refracted team members at the check-in table, and they will direct you to a local residential building that is letting us use their restroom.

What happens when you hear one narrative, see a separate narrative, and let those two narratives interact to create one fuller narrative?

I Couldn’t Tell You Why is a newly commissioned multimedia piece by Harrison David Rivers, directed by Artistic Director Tova Wolff. This trilogy of short audio pieces was written to have an accompanying live, site specific performance using silent disco headphones. After the live performances, the audio will be released as three episodes on our audio immersive theatrical podcast series, The Swell (available on all major podcast platforms.)

What you’re seeing might not always match what you’re hearing, but together, they tell the full story.

SAFETY PROTOCOLS

What safety measures will there be for audience members?

We are committed to the health and wellness of the Refracted Family: that includes both the artists we employ and the audiences we serve. Masks are required at all times, regardless of vaccination status, and we ask that you social distance as much as possible. Hand sanitizer will be available at the check in table. If you have any questions about additional safety measures, or those that were taken to protect our actors and team, please feel free to ask a Refracted team member.

Word of mouth is key for theatre companies like us, which is why every follow is so important to spread the word about Refracted. If you haven’t already, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and sign up for our newsletter (we promise we won’t spam your inbox).
